Keep it Neutral

Gap is having a banner news day.  First, WWD reports that Gap is looking to expand internationally, taking cues from Topshop and first expanding their e-commerce to Canada and overseas to the UK.

Secondly, instead of repeating their designer white shirt campaign which in the past has featured Thakoon and Doo.Ri, they are switching focus to khaki.  How do you make khaki interesting?  You enlist the best and most innovative designers of the moment as recognized by the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.  Boy wonder Alex Wang, the girls of Vena Cava, and Albertus Swanepoel have all transformed utilitarian khaki into the "It" pieces of the summer.  Not hard to distinguish whose is whose, which makes it all the more fun to feel like you really are getting a piece of the designer for cheap.  Vena Cava gives khaki their signature Egyptian treatment while Alex's jacket makes you want to go to one of his top secret after parties and sweat your ass off in it.

The collection is due out June 16th.  Expect a Kate Moss for Topshop type madness to ensue.
