People Stylewatch saw a gain in their ad page numbers for May. This comes as a bit of a surprise since the magazine is younger than most monthlies. They do however do a great job covering the lower end market focusing on celebrity trends and how to score them on a budget.
As we reported earlier, magazines are so hurt for sales that they are experimenting with tampering the all-important cover. Scholastic Parent and Child is the next magazine to succomb to the pressure and is planning to use "cover peels" that feature ads on the cover. What's next? Cover celebs holding up a product for placement on the cover?
If you've clicked on Stilacosmetics.com recently to stock up on your Kitten eyeshadow, you will notice that the brand has cancelled any orders placed. Never fear beauty gals. WWD reports that Stila Cosmetics narrowly escaped being voted off the recession bankrupcy survivor island. A venture capital firm (yes, there are still some that exist) has acquired the company and vows to keep lip glaze on chic girls across the world.
