Glossie Happenings

  • Hey Juniors, like Beyonce's look from her recent tour?  Well start saving your chore money for back to school shopping.  Beyonce's much buzzed about costumes, designed by Thierry Mugler, have inspired the singer to create a whole line based on those looks and alter ego, Sasha Fierce.  The line reflects Sasha's "daring and outgoing attitude" through being a bit more edgier than the Dereon line.  The clothing itself will be a bit more subdued, leaving room for the over-the-top accessories to shine.  Expect to see the line in stores like Macy's and Dillards come Fall. {WWD}
  • Attention Chanel-a-holics, a private collector has just sold some killer 80's and 90's Chanel jewelry and accessories to vintage store, Resurrection.  Pieces are 20 percent off through Friday! {WWD}
  • Been dying to achieve the "model off duty" look?  Well Alex Wang is having a sample sale next week so get your shopping shoes on and stay tuned for location.

  • Are we going to see talking Gap mannequins instead of SJP and Erin Wasson?  There are whispers that Gap is looking to switch advertising agencies to save costs, similar to Old Navy, who scraped all real models in general and put talking mannequins on TV.  Gap and their present agency, Laird + Partners, are responsible for some of the most innovative ads, using celebrities and some of the biggest models in the biz to take the brand from bland to brilliant.  I mean, they brought Audrey Hepburn back to life... How can you go from that to talking mannequins?  Let's hope they don't go there. {WWD}
