Its not everyday that you see denim at Paris Couture shows. But with so much discussion about whether Couture is necessary anymore, especially in this economic environment, it seems fitting that something new can be introduced to shake it back to "reality". Earl
Pickens showed his couture denim collection in the midst of Chanel and Dior in hopes that women will see denim as something formal. Think of wearing a denim suit to work or a denim blazer over a dress for a formal event..
Pickens, whose line is
Url Pickens, chose to
use high end fabric mills in Japan but produce the collection in France with the same couture makers as Louis
Vuitton and Hermes. Sounds amazing to me since I have a love/hate
relationship with denim and jeans... However, don't get too excited.. The prices start around $3K a piece! But could you just imagine slipping into denim that is so light weight that you don't even realize you're wearing denim? Or could you imagine Carla
Bruni or Hilary Clinton (hey, the girl loves a good pantsuit!) wearing this look above?
xoxo,
SG
